The cast of tvN’s upcoming drama “Flower of Evil” shared what viewers should look forward to in this week’s premiere.
“Flower of Evil” will follow the story of Baek Hee Sung (played by Lee Joon Gi), a man who hides his past and pretends to love his wife Cha Ji Won (played by Moon Chae Won). As a detective, Cha Ji Won begins to grow suspicious of her husband, and the couple is ultimately forced to confront a dark truth they never wanted to face.
Lee Joon Gi, who plays Baek Hee Sung, said, “It’s possible to think of a dark image when hearing the title ‘Flower of Evil,’ but after reading the script and acting in the drama, I felt that the true meaning of ‘Flower of Evil’ was ‘Flower of Truth and Love.'”
He continued, “When you’re on the path to find what it means to have true love that you never want to lose, and you are faced with an uncomfortable truth that has been supporting that love, how would you handle it? I’ve been thinking about these things in every episode, and I feel that, precariously, the puzzle pieces are coming together. I think the viewers will also start to think more about love and truth.”
Moon Chae Won, who plays detective Cha Ji Won, said, “I think that as a person, one wants to be saved by the one they love. I want to describe this drama as ‘Flower of Salvation.'”
She added, “I think, through this drama, you will be able to find your own answers to the questions, ‘Can it be possible in a loving relationship for just the one person to be saved by the other?’ and ‘Can [a relationship] continue with two people as each other’s saviors?'”
Actress Jang Hee Jin, who plays Do Hae Soo, the daughter of a serial killer, said, “Our drama is ‘Flower of Fateful Relationships.’ It’s a hurricane of intertwined fates. Please tune in to find out where the characters’ lives first became entangled, and what truths lie within the twisted threads of fate.”
Seo Hyun Woo, who plays reporter Kim Mu Jin, said, “In ‘Flower of Evil,’ ‘Flowers of Kindness’ bloom. Characters in the drama, in thinking of others first, get hurt and grow. There are many moments in the drama when I find myself in internal conflict, wondering if I, in the same situation, could put others first. With these questions in mind, I think you’ll be able to fall even deeper into the drama.”
“Flower of Evil” premieres July 29 at 10:50 p.m. KST, and will be available on Dramacool.
